ANNA PAVLOVA

an English translation of Ernst Krauss, Anna Pavlova, haar leven en haar kunst, Amsterdam: Meulenhoff 1931

Ernst Krauss was one of Anna Pavlova's impresarios. He arranged Pavlova's farewell-tour through Holland, during which she died of pneumonia, in Hôtel des Indes in The Hague in 1931. Krauss immediately afterwards wrote the text translated here. As he knew Pavlova intimately and was there during the last days of her life, his account is certainly of interest. In order to make this Dutch publication available to a wider audience, we offer this translation.

The book: Ernst Krauss, Anna Pavlova, haar leven en haar kunst, Amsterdam: Meulenhoff 1931, in the new series of "Een algemeene bibliotheek." There is a frontispiece and pp. 11-72 contain a nice selection of pictures of Pavlova; the six chapters of text are on pp. 73-238. The book was published in several different binding styles, full cloth and half cloth.
